The Book That Began The Brainstorming

Anyone that knows me, knows I love my books…like, LOVE. If I finish a book that I thought was incredible, I want to tell every person about it. I can thank one of my closest friends, Jamie, for introducing me to my now favorite author of all time: Colleen Hoover. Luckily, we share the same love for books and just get each other, you know?  If you haven’t read any of her work, drop whatever you are doing and go purchase one of her books and get readin’. Any one of them. Seriously. Any one. I’ll even make it easy: click here for a list and links to Amazon! (I’ve found Amazon has the cheapest prices and with Prime it’s here sometimes within a day!)

it ends with us

So, back to books and why reading lead me to where I am now. After reading a few of Colleen Hoover’s books and series, I read “It Ends With Us”, one of her standalone books and I was absolutely blown away. Reading through an author’s evolution as a writer is a pretty awesome thing to experience. I had read her previous books that still had all of my favorite elements: love stories, drama, ups and downs, etc. which is why I began to fall in love with her books in the first place. But, It Ends With Us took on real world, all too familiar situations that people face way more than they deserve, and wrote about it so poetically, all while still managing to capture the love story behind it all, the silver linings, and the true struggles people face. The balancing act between those components was done effortlessly. I still love a good romance plot but the extra grit Colleen Hoover wrote about honestly took her book to a whole different level, hence why it’s one of my favorite books to this day.

“As his daughter, I loved him. But as a human, I hated him.”
-Colleen Hoover, It Ends With Us

After that, I kept thinking to myself, I need to tell everyone about this book! Even if it’s a total stranger-THEY HAVE TO READ “IT ENDS WITH US!” Then I realized I could create a platform to share reviews, recommendations, and dialogues for people who shared the same passion for reading as I do. Fast forward some months later and here we are! This is why I’m here. To share my favorites with the world that have inspired me, books that made me look at life through a different lens, and then brought out some tears here and there. (Most likely way more tears than a normal person would shed)

“People say that teenagers don’t know how to love like an adult. Part of me believes that, but I’m not an adult and so I have nothing to compare it to. But I do believe it’s probably different. I’m sure there’s more substance in the love between two adults than there is between two teenagers. There’s probably more maturity, more respect, more responsibility. But no matter how different the substance of a love might be at different ages in a person’s life, I know that love still has to weigh the same. You feel that weight on your shoulders and in your stomach and on your heart no matter how old you are.”
-Colleen Hoover, It Ends With Us

If I were to sum up “It Ends With Us” in a few key words or phrases they would include:

  • heart wrenching, oh man was it heart wrenching
  • empowering
  • fighting through your internal struggles
  • forgiveness
  • remembering first loves & falling in love with new ones
  • real world grit with recognizable characters

After I began brainstorming for this blog, I realized I have so many other hobbies and things I’m passionate about, like seeing more of the world and different cultures and being able to experience life’s little moments with the people that I love most. This is where the other two components were born: traveling and hosting. I wanted to round out the overall theme goin’ on here with different aspects so hopefully anyone that stops by has at least something to relate to.

“I feel like everyone fakes who they really are, when deep down we’re all equal amounts of screwed up. Some of us are just better at hiding it than others.”
-Colleen Hoover, It Ends With Us

For now, I have some future book related posts lined up. We’re getting ready to move homes so the packing up has begun, along with the mess that has definitely started as well. Once we get settled into our new house, with the new bright and open kitchen with some pretty dreamy elements to it, I’m going to get going on some hostessing tips and tricks that I think you all will love!

I mentioned in my introduction post that I work in real estate development and the house we’re set to move into has gone through a complete head to toe renovation. I’ve posted little snippets on instagram and my stories here and there and always end up receiving direct messages from people asking about it. SOOOO, if that is something you all would want to see as well, let me know & I can create another fourth segment for home related posts-which I’m leaning towards already doing being the house is legitimately beautiful and I could cry any time I think about actually being able to live there so that makes me want to share that with you all so much more! Spread the happy tears!

Thank you all for continuing to read & subscribing! It’s a new and exciting adventure I decided to take so any support makes my heart so happy! Oh & don’t forget to read It Ends With Us because it’s AMAZING!
