August Book Review: All Your Perfects

IMG_0589Colleen Hoover is my favorite author, hands down. I’ve fallen in love with her style of writing, the depth she creates in her characters, all of it. But when I read All Your Perfects, my eyes were opened to an entirely different side of her as an author. Her previous style that I fell in love with was very much still present in this book, but then there was this new side to her. Colleen Hoover wrote with agony, pain, and such truth. It honestly took me on a mental rollercoaster between the “then” and “nows” of the book.

The storyline of this book is so much more raw and relevant that probably any of her other books. It’s one SO many women can relate to. It isn’t your typical high school boy and girl fall in love type of thing. Yes this book had elements of that, the typical Colleen Hoover that we all know and love so much is definitely still there for this, but it is more mature of a topic. To write about this topic so purely and in such an honest way honestly blows my mind. Colleen Hoover is a gift from the literature gods. I think I’ve said that before, but this book just took that statement to an entirely different level.

After reading, I was actually drained from this book, it was crazy. I love a good cry from a book, but SHEESH this one really got me. At first, it took me a second to get into it because it wasn’t like any of her other books-I think I was honestly just distracted. It wasn’t until a few days ago where I decided to really tune into the book and focus that I ended up not being able to put it down. I finished it in one sitting. I let my tears flow as I bounced back from “then” and “now”. Infertility is such a heavy topic and I think this is why this book has such an impact on those who read it.

This might be my favorite book of hers to date-because of its complexity, depth, and difference from her other novels. If you haven’t read this one of hers, it’s a standalone novel of hers so no need to catch up from other books, then immediately grab this book & dive in. You won’t regret it. You can find her book for purchase here!

5/5 stars for me on this one. But what else would I expect from a Colleen Hoover novel?

Ps-did Colleen Hoover set up a premise/story line for her next book with the mention of an exchange student, Six (from her other novel Hopeless) at the end?! Or am I reading way too into things? Give me your thoughts!!
